I finally finished my complete house, I had a problem with the last house I built as the UV's were overwritten. I had to UV a second time and then triangulate the pieces, so in my project I have two sections now in my Maya file, the piece group and the completed house group. Here is what the complete sawmill looks like in Maya. Since I had to make a new unwrap I have to make a new substance painter project. That will take up next week but then I should be close to done. I have also pulled this project into Unity at this point and besides some minor vertexes that weren't overlapping the modular system worked. I fixed these small issues in Maya. Now my last step will be retexturing this sawmill, I am planning to texture it with more detail this time to challenge myself. Last time I textured this building it was with wood and basic dirt, but I might add more interesting elements this time just to challenge myself and have a more unique look. I also plan to make maybe an additional fence as well as a lamp to light the area and surrounding buildings.

This next photo is the messed up model in Unity. I had to cover up some holes with logs which was something that bothered me, so I decided to go back and fix those holes and inconsistencies. This material will also be changing. As much as I like how the building looks I think I can do slightly better so for this final week I will be completing the texture of this building. As of now there is no prop that illuminates the building, there is only a random point light. I would like to make a lantern if I can find the time so that the point light makes more sense. Finally, if I really find a lot of extra time, I will be making grass foliage to cover the roof, as some of the buildings in Dragon Age have roofs with grass foliage. I will be doing this in Unity.

This next image shows the sections I have in the Maya project, this helps prevent the same mistake from happening, which is the UV unwraps being overwritten/changed. The "sawmillPieces" group saves the unwrapped and completed modular pieces of the building, so in case I lose the "sawmillComplete" group unwraps, I can refer back to the pieces group.

This is what the new unwrap looks like, this unwrap gives more room to the roof for a higher level of detail as well as hopefully more space for the logs as well. What is most important is that I begin to ID the pieces of the sawmill to help speed up the process in Substance Painter, which is something I didn't do last time that I think would have helped. Then I plan to use various alphas and maps to add detail to the house and then bring it to Unity, hopefully looking better overall.
